Margot Robbie hated love stories. The actress thought that being in a relationship was the worst thing that could happen to her, but she met someone who changed everything.
Margot Robbie refused to have any type of serious relationship. She enjoyed being single and desired, and she didn’t want to change that. “I was the ultimate single gal. The idea of relationships made me want to vomit.” She thought she would be single forever until she met Tom Ackerley, the British director and producer.

They met while shooting Suit Française where he worked as a producer. They got along so well that they decided to ret an apartment together and share it as friends. “I was like, ‘Ugh, wouldn’t it be fun if we all lived together?” They shared the place with other people, but that didn’t keep the love from blooming. After a year sharing the house, Margot started to question her feelings… “We were friends for so long. I was always in love with him, but I thought, ‘Oh, he would never love me back. Don’t make it weird, Margot.”
Margot didn’t want to confess her feelings because she thought it would ruin things. And she was convinced Tom Would never feel the same way about her. But that’s what happened. They decided to keep their romance a secret because it wasn’t serious at first.
“We said we’re just mates. And than… everyone found out.”

Their friends were afraid it was just a fling and that it would ruin their friendship, but what happened was opposite. They began to publicly share their moments together, and it became clear it was more than just a game.
In December 2016, the couple got married in secret in a town in Australia where she grew up. Margot, who said she would never tie the knot with a man, was happier than ever. Now was the moment to take another important step and move to their own place.
“It honestly hadn’t occurred to us. We were, like: ‘Hm? What? Just the two of us? That’s gonna be weird. The first time we were in a house, the two of us, it was weird. Nice. But we missed having heaps of people around.”
But they soon found out that being alone was exactly what they wanted. They founded a production company together and have worked on awarded films. The couple continues to succeed and love each other more than ever. They adjust their schedules, so they don’t spend more than 2 weeks apart, even if that means taking long flights to be together for just a couple of hours. And they never miss a chance to show their love for each other.
“Actually one time, I came home after being away for ages, and he’d filled the entire freezer with all my favorite ice creams. It was the most romantic thing. I was like, you know me inside and out.’ It’s the way to my heart, ice cream.” Margot couldn’t be happier to have been wrong and that she allowed herself to find love.
