Early Life
Valentino Rossi’s father is Graziano Rossi and was also a very famous motorcycle racer. He was born in Urbino, Marche in 1979. When he was still a boy his family moved to Tavullia, and that’s where he first rode a bike, he was still very young.

He showed great promise and talent from the very beginning. You could see it since he won the regional kart championship in 1990 so he was only 11 years old. After that, he continued winning races and making his name even more known. He was still a kart racer, so he competed in the national championship in Parma where he finished fifth.
Career life
Since his father was a racer too, Rossi decided to follow in his footsteps and become one himself. In 1996 he started racing in Grand Prix for Aprilia in the 125cc category.
He got help from his father’s friends Claudio Castiglioni, Claudio Lusuardi and Virginio Ferrari; they helped him start his career in racing by giving him a chance to race with a Cagiva Mito 125cc bike.
Although his first race did not end in the right way since he got in a crash not long after ling the pit, because of that, he finished 9th.

In 2000 he moved into the premier class and immediately started dominating the race track by winning the 500cc World Championship with Honda in 2001. After that, he won the MotoGP World championship in 2002 and in 2003 which was also with Honda.
He won another two championships in the following years, in 2004 and 2005 to be exact, but after that, he decided it was time to move to another team and signed with Yamaha with whom he won another title in 2008 as well as 2009.
After the 2010 season, he decided to change teams yet again and signed with Ducati, but that ended up being fruitless since he didn’t win anything for two straight seasons. He went back to Yamaha for the 2013 and 2014 seasons.

In 2010 the Italian foreign minister, Franco Frattini, gave Rossi the first Winning Italy Award because of how he was promoting Italy and show the world how great both he and his country is.
