Career

Both Tom and his wife are members of Deadthsquad Network, an association of standup comedians that often work together. His first TV appearance was in Live at Gotham in 2007. He wrote Garry Unmarried, which came out in 2009. He played himself in The Real Housewives of Orange County.

Segura made several other appearances on TV, namely on The Bob and Tom Show, The Ron and Fez Show, and Bennington Show. He was also a guest on Conan, The Late Late Show and is a regular at Comedy Central. Tom Segura is considered a regular guest on Joe Rogan’s podcast, The Joe Rogan’s Experience, due to many appearances he made.

Segura made three comedy specials for Netflix, Completely Normal in 2014, Mostly Stories in 2016, and Disgraceful in 2018.

In one session on The Joe Rogan’s Experience, Segura said that he was very thankful that his career progressed gradually, without any sudden leaps and bounds. This has given him a chance to adjust to his new status and stay in touch with the world. He says that if his success came overnight, he would probably be overwhelmed. One of the reasons for doing both the podcast and standup is because one gives him the chance to recover from the other.

“Sometimes you do a tour on the road and you do like eight or nine shows on the road and the idea of flying back to LA and doing another show, I’m like, No way, dude. I’m all burned out of stand up this week because I just did nine hours of it.

But at the same time, I’ll miss doing a podcast because I haven’t done it in a while. So I think the back and forth of it is what keeps it interesting and doesn’t exhaust you”
