Kurt Vogel Russell was born on March 17, 1951, in Springfield, Massachusetts. He is the father of Bing Russel (1926 – 2002), the famous actor and baseball player, while his mother Louise Julia Russel worked as a dancer.
Kurt has three sisters, Jill, Jody, and Jamie. The son on Jill is Matt Franco, a professional baseball player. Kurt himself played little league baseball during his grade school years and high school. He graduated from Oaks High School in 1969.

When it comes to baseball, Kurt was the switch-hitting second baseman during the 1970s, playing for the California Angels minor league team, the Bend Rainbows. He was also a member of the Walla Walla Islanders in 1972 in the Class A-Short Season Northwest League. The following year, he moved to Class AA with the El Paso Sun Kings team, from the Texas League. During one of the game, a runner from the opposing team collided with Kurt Russell, resulting in a serious shoulder injury. This is when he decided to become a full-time actor.
