The best Online Releases of 2019 and Where to Watch Them

Every good moviegoer knows that, in 2019, not all good movies go through big theater screens. Some films, either because they don’t get a distributor in certain countries or because they are subject to the rules of certain platforms, can only be seen from home… But only on those homes fortunate enough to be able to afford online TV streaming services such as Netflix, Hulu, HBO or Amazon Prime. All the titles on this list are the best online-only releases of 2019, and most of them are too good to miss them. If you don’t have access to any of these platforms, you can always use video streaming sites like GoMovies which allow users to watch movies and releases online for free.

The debut of actor Chiwetel Ejiofor as a director did not disappoint. An inspiring and exciting film which Ejiofor directs with a lot of class.

Growing up is complicated, and even more so when the search of the own identity leads to a deeper issue, one that has to do with gender identity. This is what the protagonist of Anahita Ghazvinizadeh’s first feature debut is dealing with. The movie is full of sensitivity and emotion and it will certainly not leave you indifferent. Find it in Filmin.

3. Hearts Beat Loud

This modest film by Brett Haley is one of those beautiful surprises that you stumble upon on a Sunday evening while you are trying to find something nice to watch.  With the spontaneity of its protagonists (Nick Offerman and Kiersey Clemons) as strength, the film delves into their father-daughter relationship in the summer before she leaves for college. Music, family and good humour working together with pinpoint perfection in this Rakuten TV movie.

4. And Breathe Normally

Winner of the Best Director award at the Sundance Film Festival, this Icelandic film came to Netflix without making any noise, but it has positioned itself as one of its best premieres of the year. Filmmaker Isold Uggadóttir unites the lives of two women on different sides of the border, but both with seemingly insurmountable problems.

5. Brexit: The Uncivil War

source: amazon.co.uk

It is not trivial that the subtitle of this film is “an uncivil war”. What happened in the campaign prior to the referendum vote on Brexit cannot be qualified any other way. Benedict Cumberbatch embodies the figure who tipped the scales toward disaster, Dominic Cummings, in this accurate HBO movie that makes you think deeper.

6. RBG

Every year, there is a documentary that manages to make it onto the top 10 list of releases, and this year is no exception. The struggle for gender equality in American justice had a woman’s name: Ruth Bader Ginsburg. While the film ‘A Gender Issue’ told its story in the form of a biopic with the help of Felicity Jones, on digital platforms (Filmin) we got a documentary where we could learn more about her life and work. A documentary that was also nominated for an Oscar.

7. High Flying Bird

Steven Soderbergh never lowers the level, even when he shoots with an iPhone. He already did it in ‘Unsane’, and he does it again with this portrait of the businesses behind the NBA. The filmmaker draws a vein of Aaron Sorkin and fills the film with long and agile dialogues, and an acidic critique as the basis for everything that unfolds as the action progresses.

8. Paddleton

Wherever one of the Duplass brothers is, don’t hesitate to hit play. In this Netflix movie Mark Duplass teams up again with Alex Lehmann (‘Blue Jay’) to tell the story of two friends and neighbours who, when confronted with the illness of one of them, decide to leave their routine behind and embark on a much more transforming experience. One where, at last, they can express their feelings.

10. Isn’t it Romantic

Johnson and Kevin Hart have a funny relationship where they love to tease each other. Johnson had this to say about him, “We laugh hard and we laugh all the time. Karen Gillan also turned to her Instagram profile, where she wrote the following:

“Can’t believe we’ve actually wrapped on the next Jumanji movie! It’s taken me a few days to decompress and get my head on the next project. But for now, here I am thinking back on what an incredible experience it has been to make not one but two of these things! The original Jumanji is in my top 3 films of ALL TIME! So it’s sufficiently insane to think I ended up in the game myself…with three brilliant men to play with @therock @kevinhart4real and @jackblack. I haven’t laughed that hard in my life. Can Christmas please hurry up now? I want to go to the cinema and watch this thing.”

Except for the four stars, the movie also features Nick Jonas, Awkwafina, Danny Glover, and Danny DeVito. The first movie, Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, grossed around a billion dollars at the global box office.

Cast

When the actors and characters, of Legacies, are in question, well, naturally, it is expected that all of them would be in the 2nd season since they were great in the 1st one. So, we expect that Hope Mikaelson (Danielle Rose Russell), Landon Kirby (Aria Shahghasemi), Josie (Kaylee Bryant) and Lizzie Saltzman (Jenny Boyd), Alaric Saltzman (Matt Davis), Milton ‘MG’ Greasley (Quincy Fouse), and Rafael Waithe (Peyton Alex Smith) will make the 2nd season as thrilling and interesting as the 1st one. On the other hand, it may happen that some of the main characters in the series might die, i.e. Jose may get killed by Lizzie. This may happen when some intricacies about Merge come to light. However, it is questionable whether this would actually happen since Josie is one of the main characters in the series. The thing that is even more interesting is the possibility of Josie becoming a vampire. When other actors, except the main ones, are concerned, it can definitely happen that they may reappear in the 2nd season again.

Episodes

This series can be categorized as a drama, but a supernatural one, and the first season has been divided into 13 thrilling episodes. When the 2nd season is in question, it is believed that there would not be less than that, but maybe some more.

Legacies Season 2 Release date

It is still unknown when the 2nd season will be aired and when the premiere would take place. We know that the trailer was released in July 2018, but we do not have any indication of the premiere date. So, we would have to wait for the official announcement of the premiere to be sure about this. Furthermore, we do not know if there would be additional characters involved in the second season.

Julie Plec

source: w3livenews.com

Julie Plec, the creator of the show, mentioned in one interview that she was a bit disappointed during the casting for the first season since she could not find the kind of actors she wanted. This was the reason why she even Twitted in hope to get the right ones. She refused to employ any of the actors that were sent to her by the agents since the actors have been the same for years.

The 1st season had its premiere in October 2018, so we may guess that the 2nd season may get aired during the same time this year. We will see.
