Pamela Anderson asked Vladimir Putin for help

in Entertainment by

Pamela Anderson is a member of the Advisory Board of the International Fund for Animal Welfare. She wrote an open letter to Russian President Vladimir Putin, that she published on the official website of her Pamela Anderson Foundation.

In the letter, she addresses a very important problem. She is requesting from Vladimir Putin to release orcas and beluga whales that are kept in captivity in Russia.

In the letter, she explains that she is writing to the president of the Russian Federation about 11 orcas and 87 beluga whales that are held in captivity near Nakhodka in Russia. And she is thanking the Government of the Russian Federation for taking the important first steps in stopping the international sales of these animals. She also says that she is grateful for the initial steps toward freeing these wonderful creatures back into their home, into the wild.

Because the final decision hasn’t been made yet about the release of these orcas and beluga whales, she asked Vladimir Putin that he resolves that issue. Pamela Anderson also wrote that she hopes that the Russian government will work together with their ecologists and other international specialists on developing a professional plan for returning these orcas and belugas into their home waters of the Russian Far East.

Everything happened because it was reported that 11 orcas and 90 beluga whales were illegally caught with the intent on selling them in China. After some time 3 beluga whales disappeared from a special retention center near Nakhodka. There was a criminal case initiated on illegal prey, but Vladimir Putin, on February 22th, instructed the Ministry of Natural Resources and the Ministry of Agriculture of Russia, alongside some scientific organizations, to determine the future of these wild sea animals before March 1st.
