Dwayne Johnson Is Saving the World, One Film at The Time

/

One of the lines Hobbs says in Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw goes: “I’m trying to save the world, which, for the record, will be my fourth time. ‘Cause I’m really good at it.”

The truth is he is good at it, but four times? Dwayne Johnson has saved the world more than four times. Here are all the times when he put his life on the line for humanity.

They have to stop a cyber-genetically enhanced terrorist (Idris Elba) from destroying the world.

2018 – Skyscraper

To be honest, Dwayne Johnson isn’t saving the world in Skyscraper, just his family, but since his family is the world to his character, technically it is the same thing. He plays Sawyer, a security analyst hired to examine the security system of the latest addition to the Hong Kong skyline, the tallest skyscraper in the world. Things go awry and he is forced to fight for his life and the lives of his wife and kids, by jumping from cranes and tall buildings. Fortunately, he has one prosthetic leg to rely on in a pinch.

When an alien pathogen infects gorilla, a gray wolf, and a crocodile, turning them into60-feet indestructible monsters hell-bent on destroying everything in their path, there is only one guy that can stop them, Davis Okoye, local anthropologist, played by yours truly. The matter is further complicated by the fact that mutated gorilla is the one Okoye saved and has a deep emotional connection with.

2016 – Central Intelligence

Kevin Hart, who is Dwayne’s co-star in Central Intelligence, came with a perfect tagline for the movie: “Saving the world takes a little Hart and a big Johnson.” Smart and just a tiny bit naughty.
A CIA agent, played by Dwayne Johnson, returns to his home town to find help in his struggle against the bad guys who stole encryption keys that allow them to control the American spy satellite program and they are planning on selling them to the highest bidder. Kevin Hart plays his high school buddy who never held a gun in his life, hence he is a perfect man for the job. After 107 minutes of laughter and action, the unlikely duo manages to save the world yet again.

2015 – San Andreas

As it turns out, not even Dwayne Johnson can’t save the world from a massive earthquake that destroys California and causes havoc in the rest of the world. All he can do is save his family by making amends with his wife and flying to San Francisco to save his daughter. The entire operation is set against the cataclysmic destruction of Los Angeles and most of California, perfect chaos for Dwayne to navigate and finish the rescue.

2014 – Hercules

Hercules, son of Zeus and a mortal woman, was a demigod and the greatest Greek hero. The stories of his adventures are legendary and known across the world. Who else than to play him but Dwayne Johnson, wearing a cloak made of lion’s skin he killed himself and lead humanity in the struggle against the dark forces of evil?

2013 – G.I. Joe: Retaliation

When a corrupt and compromised President (sounds familiar?) tries to destroy G.I. Joes, in order to initiate Project Zeus, the only one who can stop him, is Roadblock, one of the few G.I. Joes that survived the treacherous attack. With help from some friends, Roadblock manages to put a stop to baddies plan and prevent them from unleashing weapons of mass destruction onto the unsuspecting world. Perhaps Democrats could learn a thing or two from this movie, or simply hire Dwayne Johnson as a consultant.

2005 – Doom

The world that is being saved doesn’t necessarily have to be Earth. In Doom, Johnson leads a squad of Marines tasked with saving Mars from a genetic manipulation gone wrong, creating monsters determine to kill everyone and everything they see.

2002 – The Scorpion King
