Celebrity Number Plates and who owns them

1. AMS 1

Sir Alan Sugar’s Private Number plates has become quite familiar with fans of the popular hit series Apprentice. This is primarily due to the fact that the AMS 1 plate can be seen in his Rolls Royce during the show’s opening sequence. Sugar has owned the plate for years and it was first assigned to his van. He is now worth an estimated £730m and was ranked 59th on the Sunday Times Rich list in 2009.  Apart from The Apprentice, Sugar is also known for founding Amstrad, the consumer electronics group that he sold and also for being the Chairman of Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur from 1991-2001.

2. CHU 8B

This specialized number plate is an ideal marker for one of Chris Tarrant’s hobby; fishing. A keen angler, he decided to get a plate that denotes his favorite fish, a Chubb. It is definitely one of the most unusual personalized number plates in history. Tarrant is well known as the presenter of the show, “Who Wants to be a Millionaire?” But it was his success in radio that launched his career. He is also popular for his extensive charity work which earned him an OBE in 2004.

3. 5 TES

She is well known for being the UK’s most triumphant Javelin throwers. Tessa Sanderson is also the proud owner of this unique personalized number plate that is the shortened version of her name. The plate is proudly displayed on her Mercedes. It was however recently reported that she was looking to sell the plate. Tessa won the Javelin Gold medal in the 1984 Olympics. She has also won the World Cup Gold and the 1990 Commonwealth Gold.

4. 1 ANN

HRH Princess Ann received this rather appropriate personalized number plate as a gift on her wedding day. She is the patron of more than 200 organization s and is well known for her numerous charitable works. She makes more than 700 royal appearances every year and is also the only member of the Royal family to have competed in the Olympic Games. Her equestrian talents have earned her one gold and two silver medals at the European Eventing Championships.

5.  M12 KDA, D12 MOT, K1 GBO

Former athlete, Kriss Akabusi who later became a motivational speaker and television presenter is also known for his collection of personalized number plates. His plates all have sentimental value with K1 GBO indicting his “Igbo” tribe and his first name. He is a very successful athlete having been a member of the 4×400 relay team. He won three world championship medals and three medals at the summer Olympics. He received an OBE in 1992 for his sporting achievements.

6. JM 1, 1 JM, JM 2

These personalize plates belong to Sir John Madejski, a very successful English businessman. His initials are probably the most common in the country, so it must have not been too difficult to find these plates. The 1 JM plate decorates his Rolls Royce Corniche, the JM 1 is on a Rolls Royce Limousine and the JM 2 on a Jaguar XJ 220. He is the founder if the Auto Trader Magazine and has a wide range of other commercial interests that include hotels, restaurants, property, broadcasting media and publishing.
