Will the Coronavirus Speed up the Replacement of Workers by Robots?

The integration of robots in the production might be expensive, but once they start working, this investment actually pays off.

The pandemic of coronavirus, especially in the countries like Italy and Spain where the situation was the most critical, showed that robots can do as much as humans when it comes to work. One of the benefits of this is the fact that human health is not at risk.

Martin Ford, a futurist who was investigating the incorporation of robots into the economic system says “People usually say they want a human element to their interactions but Covid-19 has changed that. It is going to change consumer preference and really open up new opportunities for automation”.

In fact, smaller and bigger companies around the world are becoming more interested in the robot idea. Especially now, this idea is attractive due to the importance of social distancing of the workers who have to be at their work place. The robots are meant to be used for those workers who cannot do their job from home. To exemplify, the Walmart Company from the USA, uses robots in order to clean the floors. In South Korea, robots are used for distributing hand sanitizers and measuring the temperature.

The fact that the experts warn that social distancing measures will have to be respected throughout the 2021, makes robots even more attractive for many companies.

Danish company which produces ultraviolet-light-disinfection robots, UVD Robots, sold hundreds of robots to the hospitals in China and Europe. Moreover, restaurants and groceries which offer takeaway food are exploring this idea also.

One of the possible uses of robots could perhaps be related to cleaning schools and offices. The experts claim that robots will be even more useful if the companies who have been abruptly closed start working again.

However, there are limitations of this whole idea. For example, automated checkouts at groceries still have to be under the human surveillance because they do not work perfectly, which is primarily the reason why people avoid them.

Due to the health conditions, the food industry can also switch to the usage of robots. McDonalds has already been testing robots for the passion of the cooks and servers. Amazon and Walmart have already been hiring robots which are thought to enhance the level of productivity within the company. Therefore, the new situation with coronavirus can affect the larger number of robots hired to do shipping, sorting and packing.

Even though the usage of robots can help a lot when it comes to the social distancing, it can also lead to many people losing their jobs. Considering the fact that once a robot is hired instead of a human, the chances that that same human will return to his/her job are slim, the robot idea brought worries to some.

Sam Smith Believes He Had COVID-19

Sam Smith, a highly popular songwriter/singer, has received high awards and praises for his songs since the beginning of his career. After the outbreak of Coronavirus in the UK, he gave an interview where he said that he believes that he was positive for COVID-19. Furthermore, he explained why he has this opinion. This is the newest story of a celebrity being faced with consequences inflicted by this dangerous virus. We already had the stories about Pink and Idris Elba who were in quarantine.

Sam Smith’s career started back in 2012, and he continues to impress people all over the world with his music ever since. He revealed that he started practicing self-quarantine several weeks before the outbreak was official in the UK. He thinks he got infected while he was in the United Kingdom. He didn’t get tested for this disease, but he is pretty sure that he was positive. He added that he read all there is to know about this disease and that it matched all of the symptoms he had. Also, it is interesting to know that his sister who lives with him started getting the same symptoms a couple of days later.

Smith pointed out that he managed to beat this condition before the whole country came under a lockdown. He started practicing self-quarantine three weeks before the official lockdown, and he beat the coronavirus just when the complete country was in an official quarantine. Also, he said that he has his grandmother living with him and that he didn’t want to risk anything bad happening to her, so he started with his own measure before the state started its own. Sam Smith was in quarantine for three weeks because it was the recommendation gave by the doctors.

Just to remind you, Sam Smith won an Oscar for his song appearing in “Spectre”, a James Bond movie released back in 2015. As we said, his career really started to pick up after he featured on “Latch”, a Disclosure’s single that ended up on the eleventh place on the UK singles chart. Some of his best-known songs are “Money on My Mind”, “Stay with Me”, and “Lonely Hour”. This is the newest story we have a celebrity their coronavirus quarantine and state. Recently, Pink stated that she and her son were tested for the coronavirus and that they are in quarantine.

COVID-19 and Its Influence on Education

There is, perhaps, no area of life that wasn’t affected by the coronavirus. If half a year ago someone told you that everyone would have to stay at home for a couple of months, all countries would close their borders, and President Trump would issue a $2 trillion bill to support the falling economy, you’d probably laugh in their faces. And yet, this is the reality today.

However, while it may seem that life on the planet has stopped, something is still happening around. Companies are trying to operate remotely; governments are collecting taxes, and, of course, schools are still teaching (or at least trying to). But how do they cope with this task? Let’s find out!

Is Studying from Home Effective?

Undoubtedly, modern technologies allow students of any university or school to receive all the educational materials they need while staying at home. Books, notes, presentations, and lectures do not require physically taking them from libraries or attending a classroom anymore. Homeschooling saves a lot of time wasted on transportation, especially for those who live outside the campus, and allows redirecting energy more effectively. Sounds like a perfect decision during an epidemic?

Except for the already mentioned advantages, remote education has much more to offer. Consider these points:

  • It saves funds for schools. Infrastructure, personnel, maintenance fees, electricity bills, etc. are significantly cheaper when thousands of kids don’t attend schools every day.

  • Smaller expenses for a private school mean smaller fees for parents. Public schools that are funded by taxpayers benefit as well since the money collected to support the facilities can be channeled somewhere else.

  • Education can become more customizable. While studying at home, everyone can manage their time in a way they believe to be most efficient.

At times, when meeting other people means putting them and yourself under a potential threat to health and life, there is no choice whether to study at home or not. Social contacts bring more harm than good these days, so remote education is probably the best choice during the pandemic. Why don’t schools proceed with this way of teaching in the future then?

Drawbacks of Homeschooling

It turns out that no electronic means of communication can replace old good personal conversations. Sharing knowledge is essential to education, and there is no better way of doing it than gathering in one room and talking to each other. On teachers’ side, speaking to a class while everyone is physically present in one place is much more pleasant than addressing thoughts to a web camera.

Particular subjects and topics require physical presence at school to be taught properly. Physics, Chemistry, or Biology presuppose experiments with dangerous or rare substances that can’t be handled at home.

Online lectures are also a source of technical troubles. Computers tend to break down with time, and an internet connection can be unstable. Issues can arise on both teachers’ and students’ sides, and there is hardly a simple and fast way of fixing them. This can cause significant time wastages, especially when classes are taught online in real time.

Due to the restricted access to communication, students who study at home are encouraged to write more. And while writing would become a passion for some of them, most learners hate spending their time on academic papers. In addition, essays are strictly regulated in terms of format and content, so they aren’t a perfect way of expressing one’s ideas. A decision? Online writing agencies!

Why Order Your Essay from a Custom Writing Company?

There is a whole bunch of advantages that such services offer:

  • Ordering your essay on the web saves you time. Depending on the length of the paper, you can spend up to a whole day searching for information, locating credible sources, and formatting your essay. For instance, can complete orders with deadlines starting from 3 hours. Check out the service to find out more data on the subject.

  • Professionals will do the job for you. Entrusting your paper to an online writing agency means that an experienced author who knows how to compile a decent essay will be working on your task.

  • You won’t need to spend much money either. Rates in writing agencies start around $10 for a page but can rise depending on the topic and complicacy of the subject.

The increased flow of paperwork during the quarantine stimulates students to search for assistance, and that’s the right step to take. The efficiency of the studying process is under a serious threat if most of the learners’ energy is spent on putting their thoughts on paper. In a situation when most of the students’ efforts are directed at writing academic essays, asking for expert help is a perfect decision.

However, the extended flow of essays is not the only reason to contact an online writing agency. Most of them can complete almost any type of paper, from undergraduate essays to dissertations and admission letters. And while getting a bad grade for an essay is not the most pleasant experience, failing to enter university because of a poorly composed admission letter is definitely much worse. Some writing services can even design a perfect resume specifically for you.

International Cooperation and Online Writing Services

Universities are centers of international knowledge exchange, meaning that there are always plenty of students from abroad in any of them. And while students of one school can speak dozens of different languages, teaching languages are often limited to one or two options. This can be rather inconvenient for international students, especially during their freshman and sophomore years in college. Luckily, online writing services are designed to suit everyone’s needs.

Even if you find casual writing interesting, it’s hard to predict whether you would like academic writing as well. Writing a decent academic paper requires attention to formatting, proper language, and developed research skills. Handing the work over to a writing agency includes all these aspects together with a deep understanding of a topic and the absence of smaller mistakes like punctuation or typos.

How to Get Tested for Coronavirus?

If everyone were allowed to test, there would be no tests. Scientists around the world are currently working harder than ever to perform enough tests on the coronavirus.

The coronavirus pandemic has caused increased production of tests that are the only way for patients to find out if they are infected.

However, as you have noticed, no country allows anyone to be tested, and it is exact in determining who will be tested and who will not.

Who doesn’t need testing?

For those who have no symptoms of the virus, i.e., fever, cough, and shortness of breath should call a doctor. Even if they have returned from a destination where the coronavirus is present or in contact with the infected person, they show no symptoms. Mandatory self-isolation is then recommended as a significant prevention measure that is more important than the test itself.

If, however, you are symptomatic and you are under the age of 70, you may not even get the chance to get tested right away, but the test itself will not change the fact that doctors will take care of you.

Doctors said their advice to young, healthy people with fever and coughing would be the same no matter what causes them – they will send you home in self-isolation, recommend plenty of fluids. You will only receive hospital care if you develop shortness of breath.

After recovery, you will also stay away from other people whether the disease is due to a virus corona or someone else.

Who needs testing?

Anyone who has symptoms after having been in close contact with someone positive for the coronavirus should get tested.

Anyone who has the symptoms of a virus corona and should be hospitalized must take the test. However, everyone hopes that these categories will change as well when we have more tests available.

But it’s not just about the availability of tests.

Doctors and nurses need to have personal protective equipment to perform the test, and since these are lacking everywhere in the world, doctors want to preserve it for those who need testing more.

According to current estimates, staying alone in a risk area is not sufficient to justify the test. And not everyone with a runny nose or cough is infected with the SARS-CoV-2 virus.

However, those who have signs of viral pneumonia, which have noticeable symptoms such as coughing, fever, and shortness of breath, or who have had contact with an infected person should contact the hospital or local ambulance. People who have been in a particularly affected area are cases that are reasonably suspected that they were infected with a new virus.

Finally, the doctor decides whether a test for the coronavirus is done.

Finally, if everyone got the test, it would overload the system. Once done, the analysis is carried to the laboratory. The more criteria, the more people have to do them. And then someone has to call patients and report the results, which involves a large number of people who currently have to be available for other essential things.

She Followed All the Rules But Still Got Corona – How?

Rachel Brummert was infected by COVID-19 despite not leaving her South Carolina home for three weeks. Since she also has an autoimmune disease, she was extra careful and took all the precautions seriously. She self-isolated and her only interactions were with her husband, a woman who once brought her groceries and a pharmacist.

But despite taking all the possible precautions, the unlucky woman started experiencing coronavirus symptoms last week, and after the anamnesis and the test, it was determined that she has the coronavirus.

Regardless of the fact that she had no physical contact with the woman, it’s suspected that’s how she got the virus because Rachel wasn’t wearing gloves when handling the groceries. Rachel told reporters that she sincerely hopes that she will recover at home since she’s heard a lot about respirators and is scared of the hospital, especially due to her primary disease. She reported that she had all the characteristic coronavirus symptoms like fever, headache and coughing.

Besides the woman with the groceries, Rachel had brief contact with pharmacists three weeks ago before quarantining. Also, she receives mail every couple of days, but whenever she does, she uses gloves. She wasn’t even ordering food.

Park Hyun, a 48-year-old University professor had a similar experience. He claims that he took all kinds of precautions, but still caught the coronavirus. He went to the gym 5 times a week but he maintained personal hygiene by frequently washing his hands and excessively using disinfectants.

Park recalls that he was naive when he thought that the pandemic wouldn’t affect him and that he was wrongly confident. He advises that we should be extra careful, but we shouldn’t panic or fear the virus.

Trump has been Warned about the Threats of Coronavirus 10 times, but he Decided to Ignore it!

The president of the U.S. has been criticized a lot in the last couple of days. According to the public, he did not react appropriately in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Apparently, both Donald Trump and his administration have been warned about the severity and consequences of the Coronavirus. However, they ignored it.

Take a look at the chronology below to see which 10 times president Trump ignored the signs of the pandemic.
  1. According to the New York Times, Trump has been informed about the threat of the novel Coronavirus on January 18th, via a telephone call by Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar. On January 22nd, Trump publicly stated that he is not so worried about the pandemic and that they “have it totally under control.”
  2. According to the Washington Post, on January 27th the experts and associates of the White House met with then-acting Chief of Staff Mick Mulvaney in order to explain the severity of the situation. The head of the White House Domestic Policy Council, Joe Grogan, said that it could cost Trump his re-election.
  3. Peter Navarro, an economic adviser, on January 29th warned the White House that Covid-19 could endanger more than a half a million American lives and cause nearly $6 trillion in economic damage.
  4. On January 30th told Trump that the virus could become a pandemic and that China should be criticized due to the lack of transparency. Trump did not agree, and told Azar not to panic.
  5. On the same day, January 30th the World Health Organization declares a pandemic of Covid-19.
  1. The Senators asked the administration to take the situation more seriously on a briefing on February 5th. They also asked if more supplies were necessary. However, the administration did not make any requests.
  2. According to Times, the targeted use of “quarantine and isolation measures,” was advised by the health officials and National Security Council. It was planned to present the memo to the president Trump on February 25th, but the meeting was cancelled upon his arrival from India.
  3. On February 21st a mock exercise was performed by the White House coronavirus task force. It was concluded that the USA will have to apply the aggressive social distancing despite the fact that it might influence the economy and the quality of American lives.
  4. On February 23rd another warring was sent to Trump by Navarro. This time it said that Covid-19 could take up to 2 million lives.
  5. Nancy Messonnier, the director of the National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases, on February 25th publicly stated that the virus must be understood as highly dangerous one. She said that “we need to be preparing for significant disruption in our lives.” On the other hand, Trump thought that she had scared people and brought the unnecessary panic, the Times reports.

Experts Reveal When We Can Go Back to Normal Life

British experts say that social distancing will be a necessary measure until a vaccine for COVID-19 is found. That could mean we will spend the next 18 months in our homes to prevent a new wave of infection.

According to The Telegraph, we can expect to return to normal life only then. It is unrealistic that a vaccine could be created in less than 18 months.

Dominic Raab, First Secretary of State, said: “It’s been almost three weeks and we’re starting to see the impact of the sacrifices we’ve all made. But the deaths are still rising and we haven’t yet reached the peak of the virus. So it’s still too early to lift the measures that we put in place.”

Still, some scientists fear that it will impossible to completely eradicate this virus and that the vaccine is the only solution. That means we still have a long way to go before we can stop social distancing. Even if schools are opened and businesses return to normal, a degree of social distancing will have to stay in effect.

How to Deal With Quarantine Life According to the Psychologists?

Being self-quarantined can affect our mood and metal health. If you are wondering how to protect your sanity during these times, take a look at below to see what the psychologists advise.

Many people have started to feel anxious or depressed during the self-isolation. It seems that quarantine is even harder for those who are used to spending time outside with friends, or those who do not work from home. Changing your lifestyle and habits so quickly and drastically can affect your mood throughout the day. However, the psychologists agree that there are certain methods which you can apply in order to improve your mood.

First, if you are feeling sad or confused, remember that it is completely normal to feel that way. In fact, the majority of people will experience boredom, sadness or even mood swings. What can we do in order to make it a bit easier on ourselves?

The psychologists advise that one of the solutions could be creating a to-do list for each day. It doesn’t have to be a long and hard-to-achieve list. You can basically take one step and the time and put just a few easy chores on it. It will help you focus on those things instead of overthinking and worrying. Besides that, once you are done with that, and once you have completed your tasks for the day – you will feel good about yourself. Also, relaxation after this will come as a reward so you will actually enjoy it.

Another thing which might be helpful is physical activity. Not only does it positively affect our mood, but it also makes us release the energy. After a good work out session, or tidying the house, you will feel tired and ready to relax.

Making yourself busy and doing kind things for your loved ones will also make you feel better. For example, you can cook for your family or video-call your friends. This will also make you feel like you are not alone in this whole situation.

The key thing, according to the psychologists, is to create your relaxation time in such a way that it functions as a reward for what you have achieved throughout the whole day. Therefore, once you have completed the tasks you have chosen for the day, you can do what you like the most – watch movies, read, have a long bath, etc. In this way, you will appreciate relaxation more, and more importantly, you will not get bored by ‘doing nothing’.
