Many think 2020 is the year of Hollywood blockbusters, sequels of successful titles, and fresh movie adaptations of your favorite characters.
But the most successful Hollywood has gotten was in fact 2019 with the release of Avengers: Endgame and many others that took the world by storm.
Does this mean that 2020 will be a bad year for movies? Of course not. So far, we’ve seen Joker get an Oscar as well as the likes of Parasite and many others.
2020 has not been bad for Hollywood so far, nor will it be. We’re still in March so there is plenty of time for new releases to show what they’re made of. To put things into perspective, we’re here to bring to you the top 5 most anticipated Hollywood movies of 2020.
1. A Quiet Place Part II

Release date set on the 20th of March this year, the sequel to the mega-popular science fiction horror film “A Quiet Place” sees us follow Emily Blunt and her children cope with life without John Krasinski.
If haven’t seen part 1 then we suggest you do so, and perhaps even skip this next section. But at the ending of the first part, we saw how John Krasinski sacrificed himself to save his children from the monster.
In a way, John was protecting them by offering himself instead. The film’s main antagonists are in the fact the monsters that have super hearing. They navigate through hearing hence why the title of the movie is labeled the way it is.
Judging from the trailer that dropped a while back, we’re in for a heck of a nail bitter. And while John won’t act in the sequel, he is the lead director.
2. Wonder Woman 1984

History remains the main theme of the latest Wonder Woman movie, with the previous one earning an impressive $821 million worldwide.
But that was in 2017 and fans were calling for a sequel as soon as possible. Well, we got an answer to that calling on June the 5th this summer. The director of the film, Patty Jenkins, also happens to be the co-writer. If we take the prequel into account, and the success it enjoyed, we’re almost positive that Wonder Woman 1984 will be just as successful.
But let’s talk a little about the movie itself. Well, there is nothing to talk about really since we only have a trailer and no plot available. What we can say from the trailer is that Diana (Gal Gadot) has a cool new golden armor. Oh, and Steve is back.
3. The New Mutants
The New Mutants is the latest and probably the last movie installment of the super-popular X-Men series. This movie will be the 13th installment, and boy is the hype around it real.
According to some people, the New Mutants has some pretty big shoes to fill. Others don’t have any real expectations; an opinion solely based after the latest X-Men mess-up that was Dark Phoenix.
But real superhero film fans cannot wait for this one. The cast is also a completely new one, as Maisie Williams Charlie Heaton and Anya Taylor all making their first X-Men appearance.
The plot follows all three protagonists, and others, as they try to escape the secret facility that experiments on the next generation of mutants in the world.
The release date for The New Mutants is April 3rd, and you can watch the movie for free at Couchpop.com.
4. Top Gun: Maverick

Set to be released in US cinemas on June 26th, we’ve got yet another blockbuster to look forward to this summer. This time, it’s Tom Cruise.
Top Gun: Maverick is a sequel to the original Top Gun; the one we all know and love. At what cost, you might ask? At the cost of a 34-year wait.
But the original need for speed sees Maverick train Goose’s son this time.
The plot of the film is all about Pete Mitchell. Tom Cruise plays an important role, but the movie follows Pete as a courageous test pilot that advances up the ranks in the Navy.
What the audience should expect from this movie is a lot of action, but also a lot of drama.
5. No Time to Die
Who doesn’t love a James Bond movie? Well, No Time to Die is the latest James Bond movie, and the last that Daniel Craig will appear in.
The director of the movie is Cary Joji Fukunaga, the director of True Detective Season One, and expectations are certainly high.
The past few James Bond movies weren’t up to the standards, so No Time to Die naturally comes with high anticipation. Rami Malek, Mr. Queen himself, joins the cast as the main antagonist.
Also, at the recommendations of Craig, the product employed Phoebe Waller-Bridge to come and give the script a bit of flair. According to reports, this is only the second time that a female scriptwriter has worked on a Bond flick in its history.
This, naturally, means that there will be a lot more humor and a heck of a lot more feminism in the movie. Some have openly stated their displease at the matter, while others have welcomed it as a breath of fresh air.
One thing is for certain, though, that No Time to Die comes with a high level of expectation and anticipation.
Honorable Mentions
While these movies aren’t the only ones that the public expects to perform big at the Box Office, they are the ones that we anticipate the most.
We wouldn’t be fair if we didn’t give out honorable mentions to some truly amazing movies that are about to come out in 2020. The list includes the following:
- Mulan – March 27thBlack Widow – May 1st
- Fast & Furious 9 – May 22nd
- Ghostbusters: Afterlife – July 10th
- TENET – July 17th
- Bill & Ted 3 – August 21st

Not all of these will be instant hits at the Box Office, but all America can do is hope and wait for the best.
